I feel that women of my generation are somehow being both women and men. With the increase in financial independence, women do almost anything with their lives. I want more people to become aware about modern women playing simultaneous roles and the various consequences that can be for both good and bad. Hence, my work features an identical female face in different suits – depicting her in different roles that comes with different expectations and manners of behavior. For example, she may take on the role as the bread winner, which comes with certain responsibilities and the need for her to behave in a certain manner – she has to be a pillar of support and perhaps even provide security for the whole family. The oddness of all the family members having the same female face is meant to lead viewers into thinking about what roles women today are playing. My family consists of only four female members – my grandmother, my mother, my older sister and myself. My dad left the upbringing of my sister and myself to my mother when I was a very young child. I grew up watching everyone in the family, including myself, playing both gender roles and noticed the ups and downs, good and bad sides to such a balance.
