How Representational is the Exhibit?
Imagining Ourselves Team
United StatesGALLERYCONVERSATION
I have been following your exhibit for some time and I must say I am very excited to see a project giving voice to young women...
But you as well as anyone should know that many women today are still kept in a state of illiteracy, domestic servitude and poverty. These women are not on the Internet, they are not film makers or photographers and they are probably not writing essays about refusing motherhood.
I realize this is always a challenge - how can we be truly representational of women when we are so diverse?! But I feel strongly that the project should be more up front about the limits of its reach. It is not a representation of an entire generation of women; it is a sampling of views from women with certain privileges and access.
Thank you again for your efforts and I hope you will consider my feedback in your upcoming exhibits.
