“I think it comes down to your image of a positive woman: promiscuous, irresponsible, a victim, ignorant and dependent. People think that. They can’t look passed it – especially if you are a mother. You know what? I am none of those things.
With treatment, the number of women in Europe who can have a fulfilling sex life and give birth to healthy babies has increased. It’s the good news on the AIDS front. If a woman knows her status and has access to antiretroviral treatment (ART), she can reduce the risk of transmission to her baby from around 20% to lower than 2%.
