A World Economy
You can hardly pick up an item today and know where it was manufactured. A garment may be made with cloth from Indonesia, labor from Guatemala, and designed from Italy. A Hollywood film may be shot in Africa, produced in California, and viewed in Europe.

In the last few decades, we have witnessed a dramatic increase in goods, ideas, and even people, crossing national borders. But how does globalization affect our lives as young women?

Read Sia Figiel’s story about televisions coming to rural Fiji. See Sandra Bello’s photo essay on factories in Mexican border towns. Hear Malaysian Yee Ming Tan talk about maintaining close relationships solely over email!

Positive or negative, there’s no question we’re more interconnected than ever before… can we use this connection to affect positive change in the world?
