In China, kids born in the 1970's are part of the first generation of only children; these only children are known as every home's "Little Emperors."
I have a younger sister; when my parents had a second child, they had to pay a fine. Children of the '70's grew up just as China was at the height of its reforms and opening to the outside, and so all we needed was the desire and we were able to get a good education; at the same time, we were also subjected to the cultural onslaught that this opening up brought with it, the onslaught of Taiwanese and Hong Kong culture, and I grew up with the thrill of Hong Kong and Taiwan soap operas and Cantonese pop music. | | | ضعي علم على هذه القصة للمراجعة | |
