We are both extremely stubborn, which makes it hard when we fight, but above all we continue to look into ways we can de-mystify the image of Arab and Muslim women in the United States. She works towards educating others through workshops about Arabic, and I work through my writing pieces in English. Language works in magical ways in all cultures, and even though my weakness lies in Arabic and my mother’s weakness is English, we use our strengths towards one common goal.
