How can you be who you are when you feel there are so many options? I think this defines our generation: finding a way to balance all our choices in a way that is self empowering.

When I look at my life I feel very much that my life is different from the journies that my mother and grandmother took. They had a lot less freedom than I do. Because of their sacrifices I grew up thinking that I had rights instinctively, rather than feeling that I needed to claim my rights. I am grateful for the journey my foremothers went through. Without them I could not be where I am.

I think the greatest challenge that women of this generation face is having too many choices. When our foremothers fought for the right to work outside the home there was a strong polarization of women who worked and those who did not. Now women are meant to do it all and somehow succeed easily. It is the generation of the super woman. And she must be tired.
