Determined to break the mold

We were raised in Kuwait, a religious and conservative country where women are brought up believing they have less opportunity than men to build an independent life. I was determined to break the mould and choose a profession that would allow me to express myself creatively and be financially independent.
Working as a photojournalist for more than five years has enabled me to document other people’s lives and better understand myself and the world I live in. My work allows me to reflect the way I perceive myself as an Arab woman fighting to overcome the challenges, disappointments and limitations I have been faced with. Determination is the key to happiness and through my work that is what I hope to instill in others.
