Monologues (6 min)

Monologues started as a graduate school assignment on making video portraits following specific guidelines.
Interestingly, at this time, I was also faced with many difficult dilemmas the likes of which I had never experienced before, and I was forced to make some very challenging decisions. Some of the images in the film are taken from a video diary I had kept during that time when my camera was my confessional.
Other images come from my quotidian life. Making the film, I was able to confront different aspects of my life. Overall, Monologues is an experimental piece that evokes a particular mood related to the generational gap between my mother and me. It uncovers our yearning to better understand each other, the ordeals we both face in life, and who we are as women of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
