Remembering the contrast of my grandmothers: one who taught the importance of tying saris, wearing bindis, and nose rings; the other to weave a hairpiece; allowed me a multi cultural sense of beauty traditions.
My morning and evening routine of putting on and taking off my make up allows moments of meditation and reflection. Sometimes, I feel privileged to paint my face according to my mood. Other times, I feel a slave to makers of foundation, moisturizer, mascara, contacts, cold cream, and cleansers. Overall, unfolding within my video self-portrait reveals the seed of my true self with and with out make up.
