I never dreamed about, and much less planned on becoming a television actress. But there I was, all of my defense mechanisms turned on, ready to face with dignity the imminent rejection due to my size and appearance.
I generally feel secure and have high self-esteem regarding my appearance, but when my classmates invited me to go along with them to a television casting, I was scared. There are so many stereotypes and standards set by television and other media, and I would be lying if I said I didn't really care.
